Another one that I have to get the camera for before it’s finished and walks out the door. I’ve been commissioned to create a 1940′s evening gown for one of our Birmingham Bombshells to wear to this year’s calendar release party. I’ve drafted it based on this image of a McCall’s pattern from the era:
I am constructing the gown with crepe-backed satin, using the crepe side for the body of the dress. The draped insets will use the satin side. I can’t wait to see it finished!

Well, I just won two tickets to the “Awesome 80′s Prom” at the Alys Stephens Center this coming weekend. Looks like I have a quick dress to make! I have bright blue lamé already (don’t ask) and some black lace and black petticoat netting….soooooooo I’m thinking this with a lace overlay on the bodice:
